Airbus Livery Contest
In November 2022, Airbus ran a contest to design the livery (airplane fuselage paint job) for their new A350 cargo jet. This freighter will be more spacious and fuel-efficient than any previous Airbus cargo plane. The contest winner was to be flown to Toulouse, France to receive their prize and fanfare at Airbus headquarters. The winner was also invited to the Le Bourget Paris Airshow to view the first flight of the A350F.

I quickly got to work creating an airplane design that fulfilled the contest brief requirements. Unfortunately, I did not win 😉. But I did find out that there were over 4,000 entries so it was a tough competition!

My concept showed the list of items that the jet was capable of transporting, per the Airbus brief. This included a certain amount of elephants (or cargo of similar weight and stature), the ability to carry delicate items like fish and flowers under climate-control, a cargo bay sufficient for a giraffe to stand up in, horses, seafood, and more. And it was all possible with a state-of-the-art, sustainably-optimized engines and fuel consumption.

The only stipulation was to include the Airbus brand color for the logo and certain parts of the plane cannot be covered in paint.
