Data on data! Where does the Internet live? I mean, physically...where is all the digital information stored? For about two months, I took a deep dive into the world of data centers, their markets and the amount of gigabytes traveling around our globe. There are so many aspects to this subject! Originally I wanted to map the biggest data centers of the world. But ironically enough, there wasn't much data on data center size. China is especially cagey. Even the best data center analysis sites could only make guesses. Since I couldn't make a chart based on maybes or conjectures, I decided to go with Cushman & Wakefield's publicly available annual report on data center markets.
