When an airplane accident happens, people often question the safety of commercial aviation.
The second half of 2024 was especially bad with 3 major accidents. But when you take the historical overview, travel by air has never been safer. Using data from the Aviation Safety Network, the only organization keeping track of every single aircraft accident (and incident) in the world, I chart the total accidents by airlines and over the last 2 decades.
