Homeowners insurance is at an all-time high.

I created this map to compare the states from highest to lowest average annual rate. I was curious because my own homeowners insurance in California rose dramatically and I wanted to know why. It turns out, I wasn't alone. Rates have been rising due to a number of factors. If you don't want to pay as much for insuring your home, move to Hawaii ...but hope there's not a hurricane.
