Most major international airports have at least two more more runways, but not all.
It's hard to believe, but some of the busiest airports in the world operate with only a single runway. After a trip to San Diego where planes land amidst the downtown skyscrapers and apartment buildings in the city center, I was curious which airports managed to deliver millions of passengers a year with planes taking off and landing on one strip of asphalt.
