Impossible objects, or impossible figures, can be drawn but not built. They are a type of optical illusion. Notable peoplewho used impossible figures in their work are Swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd and Dutch artist M. C. Escher. The most famous impossible figure is the Penrose triangle (#05 above). It is named after mathematician Roger Penrose, who popularized many other impossible geometric illusions and wrote the first academic paper on the topic for the British Journal of Psychology in 1958.

Museum-quality posters made on thick matte paper.
