The Platonic solids are well-known in the third dimension, our everyday reality, but they also continue to exist up through the higher dimensions. The fourth dimension, however, is unique. There are exactly six Platonic solids in dimension four.Discovered in the middle of the 1800’s by Swiss mathematician Ludwig Schläfli, the “regular polytopes” as they are now called, were extensively studied and catalogued by mathematician H.S.M. Coxeter in 1940.
