The total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 will sweep of path of totality across America! Will you be one of the 31 million people lucky enough to witness it? The path of totality is a 124-mile wide swath of the moon's shadow barreling across the US from Mexico to Canada, including many major cities. It's the only portion of the country that will see the sun 100% obscured by the moon for a few minutes–"totality". But the time length of totality varies within the path. The closer the location is to the middle of the path, the greater the totality. This chart shows the top most populous cities in the path... and one small town in Mexico who boasts the longest totality of any place in the path.
