Which type of flying is the most dangerous?
Using data from the NTSB over the last 20 years, I compare accident rates and fatal accidents across three diffrent types of flying: general aviation, chartered/business flights and helicopters, and passenger planes flown by the airlines.
While the overall rate is trending down, the proportions of each type have remained relatively static.
Of course everyone focuses on 2011, the year there was no data! This is one of the challenges of data visualization. What to do when there is no data? I'm still working on the best solution.
